4 - DSC PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The postprofessional Doctor of Science (DSc) degree program offers specialized study in the area of pediatrics and orthopedics.

The objectives of the DSc program are to prepare graduates who will:

  • integrate professional and health literature in clinical practice and education;
  • develop and evaluate programs that promote the integration of the physical and sociocultural aspects in health care and rehabilitation;
  • effect systems change in practice through advocacy, knowledge translation, policy, and service delivery;
  • develop and evaluate programs in existing and emerging practice settings that promote health and wellness and prevent disability;
  • educate and mentor pre- and post-professional practitioners in the knowledge, skills, and values of rehabilitation science; contribute to scientific inquiry and advance an evidence-based practice perspective; and
  • serve as rehabilitation consultants in such areas as business, industrial, judicial, legislative, health care, and community settings in health, policy, and rehabilitation.
